Life after Couch to 5K

So I finished the couch to 5k at the start of September.  All that month I run 30 min 3 times a week to maintain my progress and get used to the distance.

I decided to start a 10k training program.  I started one that is 7 weeks long, and progresses quite rapidly.  The first week was 2 runs of 2 miles and 1 long run of 2.5 miles.

I was able to complete that week no problem,  The long run was long but doable.  The next week started at 2.5 miles as the short run.  I feel that progressing that fast was too much for me.. so I looked for another.

I found the couch to 10 k program.  I am going to start on week 7, running a full 25 min.  I feel better about this progress.

My goal is to run for my whole life and I cannot do that by pushing too far.

Wish my luck.... week 7 starts tomorrow.

More runs like this one to come:

September

September has started with a bang.

Cy started grade 2 in a new school!  He is loving his teacher and class, I believe this is going to be a good year for him!

T started Kindergarten just today!  He was not shy or scared at all when it came to the first day.

The other day Cy said the best thing.. he was being a bit distracted during bed time so I said:
" I am going to loose my S.H.I.T"
Cy " does that mean patience?"

July Came and Went

I sit here in August wondering exactly where July went.  I had a ton of fun in July.  We took a huge trip to the coast.  Camping for 2 days.  To me it still seems that July has slipped through my fingers.

I believe my main reason for this is that now it is August.  Les then a month until school starts... the weather starts to get colder.  I am not ready!

Time to start fresh.  We are looking to relocate, this move is still about a year in the making... a dream.

I hope to be closer to the ocean and have a more affordable life for our kids.

We are very tight with the budget in the very large financial bubble location that we live in.  I am not willing to continue on the same path just to be here.

Now is the time to take steps towards a better life.... I cannot start.

I am so impatient, I try not to ne but its so hard when you can almost taste a change.

Step by step we will get there!

June 1st

It is June already and I am not sure where the time has gone!

The boys are in T ball and liking it.

We went to the bike park (hills and bumps) with Scouts the other day and it really helped Cy with his confidence and skills on the bike.  Even T with his training wheels got on the bumps and went down the big hill!

They were both so proud and ready to go back.. this week we will hit the bike park again.

Went to a friends b day today.  I work with K and her little guy turned 2 today.  Was really nice to get out and see some friends.  It seems that most of the time Q and I would rather stay home because we r tired.

But seeing friends and hanging out with them really energizes me.

I started running again!  Run 1 min walk 1.5 min for 20 min.  I went for my fourth run today...

My knee/IT band is feeling much better and I can tell when I am walking wrong because of my calf.  With my physio we figured out that ny sciatic nerve is getting pinked which is causing pain and tingling in my calf.  If only someone had figured this out 3 years ago!
But I will stick to my physio at least 4 times a week, yoga once and strength 2, then some rest as well.  I aldo do a special warm up before I run now.

The boys went to their new school the other day to meet teachers and see the classroom, they are both super excited!

I am so excited that they are excited!

Taa taa for now!

HAPPY ST PATRICK'S DAY

I painted my nails green last night.
The boys and I colored St. Patty's day pictures

Made green cake that fell on the floor out of the oven and had absolutely no structure or want to stay in cake shape at all = made leprechaun turd cake balls.

Also sneaky hid some green canadian tire money under the kids pillows and called it Leprechaun money.  Cy said "this is from Canadian tire" we said "ah so leprechaun's shop there too!"

New Budget For March

Have you started your budget for March?

I just finalized ours for March...

We have started to remember to save for big payments coming in the future such as insurance payments, daycare, and well payments.  That way we are able to handle these payments when they come instead of having to dig into our other $ for the month.

Every penny has a job and every job has a penny... we should have $5 at the end of the month.... that way we can buy a coffee to celebrate!

Am I the only one that gets ridiculously excited for budgeting?

DEBT

Looked at the number today.. if we stay on the same path our debt will be gone by March 2017.... not bad!
If we increase our payments, we will have it paid off even quicker!

Ah cannot wait for that last payment!

Meal Plan Feb 18-24

We had a great "family" weekend with the boys.  On saturday we went to the LEGO MOVIE! I reccommed it to anyone, even if you do not have kids, it was done so well.  If you have kids under the age of say 3.5 you may want to wait on this one, there were a few scary parts.

After the movie G.G watched the boys while Q and I were able to go to dinner for our Valentines day date.  We went to Montanas that was soo yummy and then a browse through the book store after.  What a treat!

Sunday we took the boys climbing in Banff, followed by a swim.  We spent about 4 hours there.  We were all very tired when we finally piled back into the car at 9 pm...the boys almost fell asleep before we were able to get some smoothie into them.

Monday was spent with daddy going back country skiing with a buddy.  He had not gone skiing for about 3 years so he had a ball.  The boys and I hung out at home and build a ton of legos.  We also met some new friends at the park!

Into bed and ready for another busy week.  There is no school this week so C had daycare and T is going to his regualr daycare.  They go to different places, but that is the normal.

I look to the fridge and wonder what I am going to feed the kiddies all week? Hmmmm

Here goes my Menu Plan for the week:

Ham stir fry with wild rice, freezer ham, vegetables, pantry rice

Homemade pizza, homemade sauce and pepperoni in fridge

Yam and Quinoa cakes with salad

Taco Roll ups, yum

Roasted Brussel sprouts with beer battered halibut

Chick Pea Curry and Rice, veg  (in freezer)

The end of the week!

Had a good week, no yelling was done around the house.. gorilla was sleeping...until the weekend.

It seems that the kids were tired maybe from the week so worn out by the weekend at not happy to listen at all.

Other then that we had a good week.

Took the boys sledding on tuesday, went for a walk/park on thursday.  Then we had swimming lessons on sat and a x-country ski on sunday.  We were able to finish a whole loop at the troll falls area, not the same trail as last time but this one had better tracks cut in. Better ; read (any)

I started my excel course for Accounting Applications Certificate this week, I am already half way through.
I use it at work all the time so I am very familiar with the whole system, but the course is teaching me a few tips and tricks.  Then after this one I only have Simply Accounting, and Budgets and Reports.  So close to being finished, yay!

Cy has gone x-country skiing the past 2 weeks at school and he is loving it.  Teris is finishing his last week at Debbie's daycare.  Next week he will start the Mountain Munchkins daycare full time.  This is the last year then he will be in school full time, means next year no daycare!  Just for the summer/spring etc.

I was able to get Cy into the Canmore Daycare school break program, I am so excited that the boys with have guaranteed daycare until they no longer need it.

Time to eat some cake and sleep.

Check back tomorrow for this weeks menu plan.

Last Weeks Meal Plan

Forgot to post last weeks meal plan.. here it is:

Taco Salad- didn't eat yet

Chick Pea Curry and rice- forgot to buy tomato sauce

Sausage and veggies and rice-yum, and simple

Leftovers- done

Pumpkin Pancakes and bacon- ate for breakfast

We ended up haveing pizza and veg for 2 nights this week because I had bad flu.  Ate a bunch of leftovers and quick food.  Nothing more then we had already bought though, so kind of stuck to the food budget.

My Gorilla is out!

We made a vow 2 days ago not to yell at the kids anymore.
Getting my idea from the ORANGE RHINO blog, we vowed to not yell at the kids for a year.

We started yesterday, Day 1...lasted until about 3 pm when the kids and I were waiting in the car for Daddy to come back (who took a while), we were all hungry and I had the beginning of PMS.  Which meant that I was not pregnant (again!).  The kids were getting rowdy and whiny in the car, and I yelled.  I apologized right after but felt so bad.  It was the way I was feeling, the stress and the disappointment that led to that outburst, not actually what the kids were doing.

Then today we started day 1 again.  Had an awesome day.  Slept in until 10!  Yay, my cold is almost gone....took the boys x-country skiing at Troll Falls.  They both did great on their big boy x-country skis.  I was so proud of them... then we ate an awesome dinner (i made).  Just hanging out watching AFV with a lovely fir burning, when Cy goofed and knocked the laptop off the table.  I yelled.. made it until 7:30pm.... not bad.  Not great.

Not yelling at the kids is HARD!  Wow, I wish I was one of those soft spoken mom's who sounds all gently and cheerful.... but I usually shriek instead.  My inner Shrek comes out.

Tomorrow I will restart my day 1, and maybe I will actually get that star sticker (yep I bought some)

Until tomorrow.. I channel my inner YOGI...OM....AM CALM......

Meal Plan for a Pantry Clean Up

This week the first week of Jan, after the gluttony of Christmas season.
By gluttony I am referring to my budget (mostly).

So for the month of January we decided to do a challenge of no spending other then groceries, and gas.  Also for the groceries we usually spend about $150 a week, we are trying to eat out of the freezer and pantry... therefore saving money on groceries too!

Here is my Meal Plan for this week- Items in GREEN are links to recipes, RED are pantry items used

Sunday: Black bean lasagna, salad- blk beans, noodles, cheese, sauce

Monday: Sweet & Sour Pulled Pork Sandwiches, green beans-

Tuesday: Butternut Squash Soup and grilled cheese- butternut squash, veggie broth

Wednesday: Elk Roast, Mashed Potatoes, and veggies-potatoes leftover from x-mas,elk freezer

Thursday: Leftovers

Friday:  Elk/Pork fajitas-elk from roast, pork from Monday

Saturday: Rice, sausage, and veggies- all freezer and pantry

Sunday: Not sure yet...
