Thank you Santa for the new LEGOS! They have been used everyday and the boys can both handle them with no problem.

I finally got around to cleaning the fish tank.... they look happy eh?

Hard to see but T is sleeping on his tummy with his hands clasped behind his head. After I took the pic the "click" startled him and he gave me the most wicked glare before falling back to sleep :)

I finished T's name banner to match the one I made for cy last year. Yes there are threads, this is made from old jeans and the threads add character.

I am trying to follow a more regular rhythm with the boys and as a family in general so we can fit in everything that we want to do. Including crafts. I will write my rhythm at the end of this post if you are interested.

Yummy chocolate chip scones that T and I made for breakfast today. T mixed and did a great job, very little spillage. Now I have 2 helpers for my kitchen.

My 2 week menu. We are on a VERY tight budget and if I get lazy it's impossible to stick to. I made a 2 week meal plan and bought all the groceries at once. Anyone have a chest freezer we can buy? Meal plan at the end too.

This year I have decide to have more activities planned for the boys. Not huge or elaborate stuff just some fun things that we can do together. We have also implemented a daily outing time, right after snack time in the morning we either go to the park or for a walk. Having the same time every day for the boys makes the day flow better.

Since we have started the rhythm Cy and I have been getting along, I have had NO days yet that I have been wishing that Q would get home sooner so I can get a break :)

I finally got around to organizing the toys and I am going to rotate once a week. I also add a few homemade Montessori activities for the boys.

Q had his work Chrstmas Party VERY late. We stayed at the hotel overnight, with no kids (Thanks GG and Aunti Katie), Great food and tons of dancing... I had blisters the next day. Can't wait until next year.

Some sad news. Our old dog (13) Kyowan wasn't doing well and lost a ton of weight. We took him to the vet and found out he has lymphoma. Very advanced :( Now we are just trying to make him comfortable for his last chapter of life. Q has had him since he was 6 months old. I met him when he was 3. He has had a great life, hiking, skiing, rock climbing... ect. We are going to miss him so much. But our old dog Taffee that passed away from Bladder Cancer 2 years ago is watching over him.

Cy has really started to draw everything. Up until this point he usually only colored pictures but now he is drawing from his imagination. Here are a few rainbows that he made, i will have the finished pic later cause they are great! He has also learned to sharpen his own pencil crayons so for a few days that is all he did!

Last night we decorated some Lime Icebox Cookies that I made from THIS recipe. Just a note the boys only liked these cookies after they had icing on them! I love them just the way they are.

My exam is on Friday so I am cramming like crazy! It's been a long time since I have an exam to do. If you count my CPR exam its about 6 months, if you don't.... over 10 years since high school.

My poor sick boys, this was pretty much all they did for the last few days. Today has been the first in a few days that we have gotten outside..... no thanks to the 45km/ hr winds! Just a bit of snow play in the yard out of the wind. Plus they are running around the house like crazy, it's all back to normal. I would be lying if I said I did not enjoy the more mellow house.

It's been one of those days... It's 7 and the kids are in bed.... hmm no sounds from there either.... usually they go to bed at 8 but maybe it's too late for them?

I made homemade diaper rash creme the other day... works like a charm and made from what I had on hand in the kitchen.

Coconut Oil

Cornstarch

Mix until it forms a thick paste (like icing)

Also tonight I threw together a lasagna from what we had on hand

Roasted Veggie Lasagna

1 can black beans

1 can tomato sauce

1/3 green pepper

1/3 yellow pepper

1/3 purple onion

salt

pepper

garlic

oregano

olive oil

no boil lasagna noodles

Mix drained & rinsed beans, tomato sauce, and spices until it tastes good.

Cut up veggies and lay on baking tray, sprinkle with oil and salt pepper garlic bake on 425 until slightly brown

spray 9X 6 inch glass pan and layer 1 noodle layer, 1/2 mix layer, 1/2 roasted veggies, rest of mix, shredded cheese with a few veggies on top

bake at 350 for 45 min or until noodles soft

Walking Wednesdays

Just got back from a walk with L and her babes! Was great, the weather was very warm, it's a little rainy and covered with snow. The kids had a blast, they needed a bit to warm up to each other but once they did, the giggling never stopped.

I unfortunately did not take any pictures, probably because we were too busy talking. It's so nice to have some girl chat, twice a week too!

We are going to plan another outing next week too, I am really excited to make it a regular thing. Here are some pictures from T and I walking this morning while Cy was in Waldorf school, which he loves.

T and I had a good morning walking around town, then doing some errands. Including Canadian Tire, so weird that Canmore has one now. Then almost buying $18 kid mitts but come on for a 2 year old? Then we walked along the river, T walked all that way including a 2 hour walk this afternoon. He almost walked the whole way so I hope he sleeps well tonight. I know I will :)

Cy LOVES school and all his friends. They made snowmen at school , so cute! He really likes the story time. It's story time or painting that he likes the best :). I really hope they get a Waldorf Kindergarden started for next year. It would be great for him.

Ter today said "I go pee" and pee we went, to the bathroom, sat on the potty for a good 3 min. No actual pee but he wanted to go and sit. A first on both fronts, I am letting him take the lead and letting me know when he wants to start training, like We did with Cy.

My little boy is getting so big! Now that he is 2 I find myself still calling him "the baby" even though he is not really. Still my baby though, like Cy is still my baby and I still call him that :)

You really loose your endurance fast, or it's the impending flu I have creeping in. I tried to do a bodyrock.tv workout this morning and I could only do half of it. It felt so hard like I had lead in my bones. I am going to try again tomorrow and I hope I have some energy then :(

Nose paint from yesterday!

Cy loves sorting his beads so I gave him the ice cube tray... he put it to good use :)

We had a good day, went to play group, then hung out at home for the rest of the day. After I woke up with a migraine the boys watched Caillou while I slept on the couch.

After [lay group we had lunch and T slept for a few hours. Cy sorted his beads while I organized some boxes. 2 down, 4 million to go! I found the colored pencils so we colored until daddy got home :) All in all a good day but I felt like I was in a dream or deja vu all day. Weird.

Tortillas & Busy Day

Morning hike, we almost made it to the waterfall. After the sun came out it warmed up tons.

The boys and I made homemade tortillas for our tacos tonight. The recipe was really easy and both T and C were able to roll their own dough into balls. Which I later flattened and fried. Very yummy. Cyrus also grated the cheese which is his new favorite job, I have to watch and make sure he only grates the cheese because he will grate anything he can get his hands on. :)

Happy Old oven part heading to Retirement

Our 16 year old oven was dying a slow and painful death. The oven took 10 + minutes to light so the kitchen (and whole house) would smell like gas. :(

I decided that to be frugal the best thing would be to get the oven fixed instead a buying a new one. I looked online and the part was $50 and there was also a youtube video of how to fix it!

I ordered the part and it came the NEXT DAY! When does that ever happen?

Q and I fixed it this last Sunday. It took all of 10 minutes, including turning off the gas, pulling out the stove, and removing the stove door. Wow I feel so handy!

I've been really busy lately since Q and I have decided to pay off our debt super quick. In order to do this the budget is very small.... very, very small. So I save money on groceries and gas by planning very well and in advance. Hence the crazy baking and not letting anything go to waste.

Halloween/ T Birthday Party

Welcome to the crazy season. It seems that everything starts in Fall and nothing ends until January. The crazy birthday season at our house.

We had a Halloween Party at the community hall in Exshaw on Sat. It was fun but it seems that after the kids get their prizes of candy most people book it out! After just and hour and a half most people were gone and tables were starting to be folded up! Never seems to be enough time to really have some fun, so rushed.

Then my brother an his girlfriend took the boys for their very first sleepover! They did great, we did NOT get a call at 2 am yay! They played and went for a walk then watched a movie and hit the sack. K said they fell asleep within a few minutes.

The next morning they woke up early at 6:45am (they usually wake between 7:30-8). They had pancakes and a bath then I txted them to see if they were ok because it was 9 am and our house was feeling very quiet.

Q and I went to Banff for a movie and dinner, then we went to sleep and actually slept through the night! Yay, I felt very rested the next day but boy did I miss my boys.

The next day was T birthday party. I decide to keep it mellow after the crazy that was Cy's party a few weeks ago. I made a hockey rink cake. My dad came early so I put him in charge of the cake decorating. (just like old times) We had our friends from Calgary come and all the kids were so excited again to see each other.

All the gifts were great and every one has already been played with! Thanks everyone :)

Before bed we watched The Mighty Ducks- a hockey movie from 1992, a classic that I have seen a million times.

A very great weekend but so tiring! Today we are carving the pumpkins, play group party, then going trick or treating.... one day mommy will be able to rest :)

Cyrus Birthday

This past Saturday we celebrated Cy's birthday! He turned 4 on Oct 5. I still can't believe that I have a four year old.

He has been really interested in rocket ships and space ships for a while now so I decided to make him a rocket ship cake. It turned out really well. Quintin bought me some aliens to put in the ship. Despite what it looks like I am NOT torturing the baby below. He is just trying to steal my icing!

Quintin bought some long balloons at the store and after watching you tube. He was able to make quitea few balloon animals. Perhaps he will be hired out for parties now? He made a dolphin hat, bunny, frog, flower, poodle, and a snake.

Cy's buddies came out from Calgary and then they didn't want to go, but that's ok we will see them in a few weeks when his brother T turns 2!

Handmade Holiday 2011

I am really excited to join Handmade Holiday 2011 over at Plain and Joyful Living

Just the other night at Thanksgiving my whole family put our names in the hat and each took one for secret santa. This year we decided to go for a handmade rule. I am very excited about this! Each gift has to be handmade. I try to do this every year myself but this is just some added encouragement. I am really excited to see what the rest of the family comes up with.

I have even decided to do handmade wrapping paper using the cookie cutter paint stamp method! Thanks to Gypsy Junk for the inspiration.

Moved

So we are all moved in but far from finished or organized. Everything we own is in the garage waiting to be sorted and organized. Q and I have decided to sort through everything before it gets to come in the house. Then only the stuff that we really use and really love gets to come in. The rest of everything will be sold in a garage sale, garbage, or donated.

I am really looking forward to being organized and clean. I read that if you are completely organized then your housework is reduced by 40%. Sounds about right to me.

Today is chilly and overcast so a perfect day to get started... I will post pics after I am organized. Check out the blog steadymom.net for my inspiration.

Moving...

Ah the joys of moving. No matter how organized you try to be or how far in advance you are aware of your impeding move, there are still piles of stuff in your livingroom.

We are moving on Friday... I have day home kids all week except friday (thank goodness)

How many toys can I get rid of before the kids start to complain? Does anyone else have kids that have way too many toys... but when observed only play with about 5?

Here is our list:

Puzzles

Tinker Toys

a few extras would be: shopping cart, transformer toy, crafts, any kitchen stuff

That's all they usually use... the rest get dumped out on the way to these coveted toys. I am really enjoying the purge! If only my hubby would let me go after all his tools and car stuff...

Hospital here we come!

Last night right before dinner Cy was running down the hallway and slipped. He hit his head on the bathroom door... gushing blood and tears later we were off to the hospital.

Luckily the video games at the hospital were working (they were not last time). After 5 hours of waiting we saw the doc for about 5 min so he could skin glue Cy's boo boo together.

I have decided that I am going to buy my own skin glue. And maybe take a course in stitching wounds. I do have boys you know... and this is our second time for a small boo boo that looks like it needs stitches but skin glue will do. Much better for the 3 year old boy too!

Cy is doing better, but he was sick a few times last night and this morning. Could be exhaustion or could be the McD's we had at 12:30 am on the way home cause we all missed dinner....

Last night after Cy was sick I decided to sleep on his floor so I could be close if he needs me. I was almost asleep when.... he laughed in his sleep! The cutest thing ever... I wonder what he was dreaming of...

Big Hill Springs Provincial Park

Big Hill Springs Provincial Park was our first official hike as a family! We took the kids last weekend with a packed lunch and the Ergo.

We first ate lunch by the little waterfall at the start with a bunch of other families. This little hike is great for kids so it's no wonder why it was so busy with little people. Only 25 min outside of Calgary we had a great time without going too far. Since we went Cy has been asking to go hiking again! I can't wait until we move (in 2 weeks) so we are back in the mountains and ready to hike.

I know it's been a while. After the evil sinus cold it seemed that our little family has caught every bug that comes our way. With colds, stomach flu, ect we never get a break. This week at the beginning I had the end of another flu bug but today I finally feel ok (the boys are still sick, cy up all night puking, and t too!)

These are my current stats:

Waist: 27 inches -0.5

Hips: 33

Belly:32 -1.5

Thigh R:21 -0.5

Thigh L:21 -0.75

Body fat: 19%

Over all not bad, actually really surprising considering the lack of workout in the past 3 weeks and the increase in junk food (it seems to agree with my tummy when i am sick)

I guess all the walking with the kids and playing really makes a difference.

Yesterday Cy was really tired so he went for a 2 hr nap! Very unheard of so T and I played the afternoon away...

For a while T was naked cause I wanted to see if he would notice when he peed and to see what he would do.

The first time he peed he was really surprised! I said "you peed, that's where that comes from, pee pee!"

The second time he said "uh oh!" and ran and sat on the potty all by himself! I did not even tell him too! I wonder if that means that he is getting close to be ready to potty train!

Hail!

Yesterday the weather turned crazy and was dark light night at about 6 pm! It started pouring with thunder and lightening. There was thunder right outside our window, it made me jump and squeek! I swear it was right in our yard. Then the hail started. Our plants looked ok but when the hail wouldn't stop Q and I had to brave the weather. I wore his motorcycle helmet. It only took us a few minutes to move all the tomato plants but we were soaked when we got back in.

Bonus : Our bedrooms were cool enough to get a good sleep in, they have been so hot and stuffy lately.

We have added a new fuzz animal to our family...

French bulldogs usually go for about $2000, unspayed and vaccinated. I have been looking for own for a while and there she was!

After picking her up on Saturday we all went 4 by 4 ing in Q's new orange truck. We played for about 30 min when a huge puddle called the truck... I briefly thought (we better check the depth) right before we drove in and got completely stuck. Q opened the door and water came rushing in! That's how high it was, over the door. At this time the winch on the truck was not working. Here we are suck in about 2.5 feet of water, no cell reception, and no winch. Lucky for us a really nice guy on an ATV pulled us out with his winch! Thanks (J)!

All went well, the truck still needs some water cleaned out of the engine but it is mostly clean! What a busy few weeks!

My sister's husband has landed a job down under... YES Australia! They are moving in 2 days! It's so crazy... an awesome opportunity, but so far away! They are flying out in 2 days so we are all having a BBQ at my other sister's house. I am afraid we are not going to see our niece and nephew until they are old and teenagers. We would love to go visit but Australia is so far away! It seems that it was a pipe dream but then it is actually happening... so I am going to stop writing now so I do not ruin my keyboard with tears :( So happy but sad too!

Fitness Update

Last friday I was able to do a workout... my first since I could the dreaded never ending cold. But I follow the bodyrock program so no workout yesterday and today. We went for a huge walk at the dog park with the dogs. Cyrus brought his new bike.. and did a great job! It only took a few tries until he was able to break and travel down small hills.

Tomorrow I will jump back onto the bodyrock bandwagon and eating the as diet way. Even after 2 weeks of no workout I was able to maintain my abs and m weight, using my diet alone...

Next I will have a 6 pk and the pic I put on facebook will be reality and not a dream.. :)

Last night at 3:33am we were woken up by the sound of Q's truck stalling, some f#&%$s stole his truck with all his tools in it!

Lucky we saw it happen and called the police, they called us at 5 am saying they found it and most of the tools were still in it! The tools that were in the front seat were gone, the table saw and drill set. The police had seen the very unique truck and chased it into a sketchy part of the city.

The police even picked up Q and took him to the truck to bring it home. A better ending then it could have been.

I just bought Accu-Measure Fitness 3000 Calipers. I am happy to report that I am at 19% bodyfat which is way lower then I thought I would be.

Unfrtunatly all my bodyfat is resting on my love handles! They are my nemesis! I am going to try really hard to get rid of them. It seems that most websites say that as you get lower in bodyfat they will naturally get smaller but they will most likely be the last things to go! :) I guess I just have to keep at it.

CRAZY! I weighed myself at G.g's house yesterday and I weigh 117.4lbs. Smaller then before the boys were twinkles... I guess that's why I can see my abs now!

We all had a great weekend out in the East of Canada at the wedding of hubby's brother. It was soooooooo much fun!

We flew in really early Friday morning (landed at 12am) so we all slept in until 10 ish. Then Grandma and I went to Walshart to get some groceries. Then we got ready for the wedding rehersal. It went really well with all the kids having a great time and Cy practicing his ring carrying. We all went out for chinese buffet after and soo yummy.

The day of the wedding at about 10am the weather turned really nasty. A huge thunder shower that seemed to be right over the house. It lasted for a few hours but broke just before the wedding started. It was a beautiful ceremony in a church with a bird's nest for cy to hold the rings in as he walked down the asile with the little cutie flower girl. After the wedding we all headed over to the springer house for yummy food, and lots of dancing! The boys and I danced all night long (2 am) then we all crashed until about 10 ish.

The nest day there was a bbq at Q's parents house and all the family came over to hang out and let the kids play. It was a great ending to a great weekend. Now we are thinking of possibly moving out there next year to see the family more...

Yesterday I finished my First Aid, CPR course and passed with flying colors. 99%

I was hoping not to have to use my experties for a while but fate would have other plans.

While Cy was jumping around the living room he hit his head on the tv and got a gaping wound. Yay for first aid, off to the hospital we go! After 3 hrs of waiting his head was glued together in all of 5 min! But no stitches yay!

All alone bath time for T! Spaghetti face. Big brother fell asleep on the way home from Exshaw. I carried him to bed at 6:30pm and asleep he went. T had a whole evening on his own. That's what happens to boys after spending a whole day outside in the garden and running around the yard after balls. Even Q and I are pooped! I am planning to go to bed early so I can get up early when Cy does.

Cy had his haircut for the first time today! No more people calling him a girl (even though he doesn't look like one). Also no more of him having to push the hair out of his face every time he wants to do something. He looks adorable.. like such a big boy, pic to follow tomorrow because I am having trouble working Q's new phone. It is a shaggy surfer cut, think Owen Wilson, but much , much cuter :)

We also bought him a new Toy Story travel bag that has wheels so he can carry his own stuff to the airport and on the plane. Ontario in a month... yay he will look so snazzy!

Ter talks a ton now, still mostly baby talk but we know what he says ( bread, apple, want, more, that, dada, mama, kitty, zena, luna, henry, up, go, ) lots to come i'm sure!

Earth Day! Zoo Easter...

We went to the zoo for Easter today! A ton of fun was had by all. First we met up with Sam & Mike, Cassie an Marcus. Then we went through the hippo/giraffe house. The afrian pigs had a new baby! We were at the zoo a few weeks ago and the baby was not born then... brand new.

Then we headed to the Tent for a magic show. The show was fun, but even more fun when Daddy got to participate with all the other big daddy's!

Then a dance group came on from Pulse. They were so fun and they taught us some moves, both the boys and mama and daddy danced! Too bad no film from the dancing :(

We lost Sam and Mike before the magic show never to be seen again!

After the show Cy wanted to go in the bouncy tent so in the line we waited! He had a blast and listened so well when it was time to get out.

After the tent we looked at some more animals, then heated up our lunch ad sat by the elephants to eat. Lucky us a zoo interpreter was doing a show on the elephants so we learned some new info while eating. Elephants have 6 sets of teeth, they fall out every ten years!

On to see more animals and Cy ad T met the easter bunny!

Then the kid train drove by so we HAD to go on it. Q ended up with too many coupons so a ride on the Carolsel was in order.

More animals then finally home after a very short ride through the dinos! 5 hours later we were back in the car ready to do a little Easter shopping and drag ourselves home :)

Now that's a family day!

Super Train!

Today we all went to the SUPER TRAIN SHOW in Calgary. 60,000 square feet of model trains of all different kinds, plus a huge section for the kids to play with train sets and Lego's.

The show was awesome, I recommend it to anyone. Q and I also had a great time and we could have spent a week there looking at all the different trains.

3 hrs later we were all tired and ready to go. Before we went to the show we drove to cochrane where I picked up a train set, baby gate, and a bunch of puzzles. We LOVE kijiji.

Ter says eee oooh for his version of uh oh. It is so cute, he has also learned the word mine! The last few weeks T has really started talking more and understands almost everything we say. Which means he listens about %10 of the time :)

Cy starts soccer on Monday, he is sooooo excited, mama might be more excited because I can't wait to see him having so much fun.

Laura hosted ladies night last night and it was sooo fun, but I had a rough start to my day because of too much wine (about 5 glasses too much)

I am starting a day home and interviewing a ton of people for a while I got no replies and now I have too many!

So It's been a while. I am using my MAC and uploading from our camera is really annoying on here, I hate to post without pics so...

A few days ago we bought T a new kind of Soy milk thinking no big deal. At 3 am he woke up (as he usually does) to have a drink and we gave him the soy.

Within 10 min he was covered in hives and having trouble breathing! After a quick stop at the foothills hospital we ended up at the children's. Poor T on our way there his hives got 10 times worse! He looked so funny with big swollen red ears that even the nurse laughed at him :) After vomiting on the admit nurse T proceeded to play with all the toys and pretend that he was not sick at all! Then a nurse came and gave him benadryl and a doc looked at him briefly. He just told me not to give him the soy milk....

Then we went home... poor kiddos they were so tired it was 7 am by this point, Q took the day off work and we all slept in until 10:30am!

Nothing gives you more fear then having your babe go through something like that! It's like my sister said..." if they cut themselves or break a bone you know it can be fixed (normally), but when they have reaction and have trouble breathing you get so much fear! I'm so grateful for Q because I was barely holding together at the hospital. I could feel the tears threatening behind my eyes while I talked to the doctor! Even now thinking about it makes me want to weep!

Thanks to all the hospital staff and to those who designed the children's waiting room! It keeps a 3 yr old happy at 3 am!

Next task: allergy testing!

Today I was able to fight off multiple attacks from a rainbow colored dragon. Those dragons are pesky buggers. Lucky for us our dragon has a bladder problem, every time Cy goes to pee the dragon is already on the potty. Oh the imagination of a 3 year old is a beautiful thing!

Later we colored our own rainbow dragons. Ter was able to get marker all over himself and also he pulled the ink part out of the markers. Shouldn't those be make more durable? Ter says NO, NO NO,NO ,NO with an accent, he sounds like a little British man.

I finally finished sewing the curtains for the boys room. They are in the laundry right now and then I will hang them. A friend of Sam's on face book had pics of her kids rooms and they were actually decorated! They inspired me to get my act together so that I do not just have a house...I have a home!

Today the boys and I went to a play group that was awesome. Lots of kids were the same ages as the boys so they had a ball. Also the moms were really friendly. To get to the play group I had to go on the DEERFOOT TRAIL! (cue dun un dun un...... jaws music) I made it in 1 piece even after missing my turn off. Thank goodness for city maps in my bag:)

After lunch Cy and I made stained glass with wax paper and tissue paper. I got the idea from this blog Ordinary Life Magic

Later I made carrot cookies. Very yummy... better then you would think they are like halfway between a cookie and a muffin. I think they will be my new breakfast cookie. Yum!

Also we took the dogs to the off leash park. It was @!!!*##@ freezing! They had a ball even when Keoywon tried to dominate a dog the size of his head.

All is well on the home front. I am looking forward to a knitting group meeting tomorrow and a craft class with the whole fam on sunday. I hope it gets warmer soon!

I just got the internet working that we ordered here in Calgary! It took a while any many frustrations but now it works! Yay.

Soon there will be pictures of our new house and updates but now I am tired and am going to hang with the boys before bed!

Also Ter is all done breastfeeding... he has much more interest in his sippy cup. Even after he got his little finger squished in the door and the nail turned black he wanted more sippy then booby...

I guess that is the end of an era... a breastfeeding era for me. No more babies that need to be breastfed.... sad yes... but at the same time I love my two awesome boys!

Q got the new job in Calgary and it is GOOD! The only problem is that he starts work at 6:50 am so he leaves here at 5:30am! It's a whole hr to drive to work for Q.

We have started looking at renting a place in the city. Tonight Q is looking at a place that's very affordable and in a great location ( huge dog park and rec center nearby) tonight. My mom is going to rent out our house because our house is 5 min from her work and then she can get a dog.

I am excited but at the same time a bit apprehensive because this valley is the only place I have ever lived. I did live in Ontario for a couple years but I was a baby so I do not remember.

I am excited to go somewhere else but I am a creature that likes her familiar and routine.

This past weekend we went swimming in Cochrane. The pool was the best pool i have ever been to. There was a family change room so we all could go in together. Then there were 3 pools a little dude pool a bigger kid pool and then a regular big pool. And a hot tub too! We had so much fun and I cannot wait until we go again!

Cy was able to go under water and hold his breath! He was swimming underwater!

Q got the new job so we are thinking about renting a house in Cochrane because its so much closer... then I will be closer to the pool!

Note to self: Don not feed baby chili for dinner if you expect to get any sleep!

Today Cy was playing with an old phone of Q's. I said " you could call daddy" he siad "i'm just pressing the okay button" i said "how do you know its the ok button?" he said" because k...o spells ok!"

That was the first word that Cy has ever read on his own! Even though t was backwards he still knew what it said. Crazy!

Also this past week Ter said " out" . He loves to put things in and out, so that made sense to be one of his first words. Also he says daddy, mom, mama,mommy, oww, wow, in, yes"

Today we went to play group and the boys had a ball. Again Cy made it to the potty but his pee pee was aimed poorly so he got his pants wet. Soon I hope he can pee standing up then we will not have this problem.

I am attempting to get my laundry finished today... again! It just seems to creep up on you!

5 hrs later... I got all my clean laundry put away! Yay and I am putting a huge dent into the dirty laundry pile.

We found out daddy got his new job with almost double the wage and benefits too. Yahoo!

I am looking forward to a good sleep after a bit of knitting... now a hat for Cy...

Cy, Ter and I had a great day. Now that Ter is sleeping better after I give him Advil, Oragel, and Tylenol, we are all getting more sleep = a happier family. Everyone knows that when Mama's Happy everyone's happy! :)

Our days are filled with running back and forth between all the new toys the boys recieved for Christmas. I am even loving them! I bought the boys huge bouncy balls so they both could use them with no fear of Ter swallowing one. The balls are a huge hit! They play for hours tossing them through the kitchen when I am doing the dishes or making meals. It's chaos but organized chaos!

We made our first trip to the grocery store with Cy having NO DIAPER! It went great. He peed when we got there and made it all the way home. He even fell asleep in the car and did not wet his pants! I am so proud. We pretty much only use diapers when we are going somewhere. There a still a few accidents here and there... none out of the home though!

Cy is so big he ate an apple all by himself! And then threw out the core when he was finished. He can also blow his own nose and get himself dressed! Everyday there is a new skill that he is perfecting. It's all happening so fast. Before I know it he is going to be a teenager! I hope not!

Ter can say bye-bye. He is very camera shy so I can't catch him on film but I will try more tomorrow. He also says nite-nite. He walks everywhere and carries a ton of stuff with him. He can stand up with no help. Almost old enough to walk outside if there was not 1.5 feet of snow!

Tomorrow is the start of another year and I need to make my resolutions!

The sweater that I was trying to finish for Q I DID finish! It just fits a 300 lb man so I need to block it. I have never blocked anything before but I am very willing to try. I think I may do it tomorrow. I also finished a christmas ball for the tree too! Although after christmas but still finished and our tree is still up! How long do you keep your tree up? Our's is fake so I usually get sick of it by the end of January and finally take it down.

I started a little knitted project for our new nephew Dylan but I cannot reveal until I ship it in case the parents see my blog!

We have been very busy here playing with our new Christmas presents. Cy loves his Alfie Robot from Auntie Kim and Uncle Devon. His new car tracks also gets a ton of attention. Ter loves his new toys but a few wooden puzzle pieces in a cup was his favorite toy today. Such is the life of a 1 yr old!

It snowed about 1.5 feet today and was very cold -24 Celsius so w did not venture out into the world.

Q applied for a new job at a huge company and it is looking good. He just needs to pass the fitness test then he pretty much has the job! I am so excited for him. We may move to Calgary or Cochrane for it if it is long term. Plus the company has a ton of benefits too!

Whats everyone doing for new year's? It looks like we are going to see TRON in 3D!

F#&**!!! phone! My cell just erased a message that cy send me for my birthday back in june. I had been saving it until i could figure out a way to save it on the computer! Now it's gone! :( It said "happy birthday mama" in the cutest voice I have ever heard. I HATE my phone!

Today the boys found some bouncy balls. They were way too small for Teris but he had a blast so I kept an eye on him. After he figured out how to bounce them the fun began. Cy and Ter passed the balls back and foth and threw them all over the house for over an hour!

Ever since Ter started to walk a few weeks ago he has been walking more and more each day. Now he walks all over the house. It's so cute to see such a little guy (17 .2 lbs) walking. He is still wearing 3 month pants because his legs are so little!

These days Cy is into racing for anything. If I challenge him to a race then all the toys get cleaned up without a fight. This works well for getting dressed to go out too. We have been racing his friend Bailey all week to get dressed faster after playgroup.

After I finished doing the dishes Cy asked for some water to play with. I gave him bubbles and a few kitchen toys and he played in the sink for an hour. If only I could get him toactually clean the dishes too!

We had an impromtu dance party in the kitchen to christmas music.

After realizing that Cy had been quiet for a while I went to check on him and found him "reading" to himself on the couch... I see a glimps into his future!

Today we all went to the library where it was a very quiet day. Only a few kids there but they were the regulars that Cy normally plays with. They always play hide and seek and its the best time watching them count and giggle when they find each other. There is always a craft at the library and this time they made paper chains. Red and Green of course with sparkles. Everything is better with sparkles!

Ter has been really gassy the last couple of days and I thought it was because I had beans for lunch. It turns out that his first molar is comming in! His poor gum is all bloody and sore looking. I hate for him to be in so much pain... we do love our baby Tempura. The last few days he has been up alot at night so this makes mama a very tired mama.

When we got home from the library a crazy storm blew in. The wind was horizontal and there was snow too! I was worried about when Q drove home but the storm blew itself out in about an hour. It made me very happy to have a working furnace.

Ter was all worn out from the library. He fell asleep on the way home and slept for almost 3 hrs! This gave Cy and I time to make playdough. Here's the best recipe ever!We added sparkles and green coloring. I even added vanilla to make it smell good! Cy made cookies and spaghetti when he used the garlic press. We played with the playdough for an hour and a half! We even made a past a guy out of a meatball and spaghetti hair.

We also had the best fruit for lunch. I thawed some fruit then sprinkled cinnamon and sugar on it. It was the best. I ate mine with vanilla yogurt and it tasted like dessert.

Saturday was the church run Christmas party for the kids. All the kids had a blast. There was duck, duck, goose. Cy doesn't know how to play but he had a lot of fun just running around the circle. Then they all made pipe cleaner Christmas tree ornaments for the tree. Cy picked up some older women that helped him to make his. He got the ladies to do the whole tree practicly for him. They were teenagers and he is a blond cutie... what more can I say? Then the kids listened to the nativity story and Cy got to open the baby Jesus. Then it was cookie decorating time which was very hard for Cy because the cookies had eggs (allergic) and he did not understand to decorate and not eat. After a brief breakdown, Jill gave a candy cane and it was all good. Thanks guys for hosting such a fun party! Q was talking to a man that wants one of Q's homemade skateboards for a raffle!

Sunday was the Exshaw Legion party with Santa. Cy got a Thomas the Train DVD and Ter got a musical box toy. We had a great time catching up with friends that we have not seen for a while. After the party the baby slept for an hour then it was off for a surprise form daddy.

He took us to Cochrane to a huge sledding hill. The first time for both the boys. After a too fast hill for Cy he stuck to sliding on his bum. Ter loved to go fast! It was so fast that I screamed a few times myself. Shhhhh don't tell anyone. After sledding we went to a Chinese food buffet that was awesome. They even had crab legs and roast beef and all the food was great. As usual Ter ate double what Cy ate. Cy filled up on jello and fruit at the end anyway. A great way to end a very busy weekend!

Today it was so warm out that the boys and I spend 1.5 hr outside before lunch. We went to the park around the corner where there is a great ice rink. Cy and I slid around shooting pucks into the net. He cannot wait till he gets skates. I think GG is getting some for Christmas and I can't wait until he gets some too! Ter crawled around and got a few rids on a chair that I pushed him on. After a few swings and a few slides we took the dogs for a good walk before lunch. Oh and at the park there was the leg of an animal, just the leg and still covered with hair.... ewwww!

We rushed home for lunch and then off to play group. Cy had a ton of fun with Bailey, and Matis. They are all very close in age. Ter jumped right in with the big kids and played his heart out. Cy got a bit crazy when it was time to leave so after I wrangled him into the stroller he threw out his hat and mitts in a fit. I just left them there and walked away, he had cold hands all the way home. (Marie picked them up and is bringing them to play group next week) this way cy can learn some natural consequences.

We had Spanish pork for dinner. I read the boys a curious George counting book. Cy points at the pictures and counts so Ter tried to do it too! It was so cute. In the bath he tried to fill a tub with his scoop also just like Cy.... I see a pattern here!

That is my catchup! I hate missing blog days because I can't remember what we did on Friday... a complete blank!

Yesterday was a crazy and busy day. In the morning we went to playgroup where cy made a Santa craft. It was gluing pieces on a paper plate to make a Santa. Usually I help him put all the pieces on but this time I just stood back. It was way more fun to see what he did when he did it all by himself. This guy reminds me of that hat man from South Park. Ter fell asleep right when we got home from play group because he was so tired from all the activity.

Later I did laundry with cy and he helped me by matching all the socks together. Soon he will be able to do all the laundry.... ok so not for a few years (or 10) but eventually.

Both the boys were so tired yesterday that it seemed like every time I turned around they were injuring themselves on something else! We have at least 5 good bruises on both of them from yesterday alone. I need a padded house for tired days. I really want to try to get the house super baby proofed so that the boys can explore almost everything without the boys or other stuff being in danger of getting broken.

Later GG came over for dinner and I made potato skins. Cy helped me wash the potatoes and wrap them in tinfoil. He even stabbed them all with a fork for me! He loves to bake and cook with me!

Today I sold our Wallies on kijiji so we drove to town to meet up with the buyer. Last week I sold all my Scrubs DVD'ds. I am on a selling spree. We have so much stuff in our house that we do not use and I love selling them and seeing our bank account go up. It's a total rush!

Cy and I played a matching game with our go fish cards. Then we played go fish. Each about 100 times. He loves to match. Later I pulled out an old pop bottle that I drilled a hole in the top so q-tips could be put in. A fine motor skill game for cy. Ter was doing it with us tonight and he is really good at it. Cy mastered it ages ago but I though Ter was still too young.

We are off to a Christmas party tomorrow and I can't wait, it will be so much fun!

below are all pics of the decorated areas of our house.. the best its even been and not even close to being completed!

Cy, Ter and I went to Auntie Sam's house to have a cookie decorating party. It twas so much fun. There were about 6 bigger kids Cy's age and 4 little guys Ter's age so they both had some great friends to play with. Cy decorated 6 cookies that made it home to daddy. A few got icing on them and then they disappeared down to him tummy. Then he found the m&m bowl. After I told him no more m&m's so some of the other kids could have some he had a fit. A mouthful of 6 m&m's dripping down his chin while he mourned for the future ones he could never have... So cute but so sad. Cy also gave an impromptu yoga class to the kids. Both the boys were so good at sharing toys and being happy even after so much crazy and lack of sleep. Cy didn't even sleep on the way home... he just talked about how he wanted to marry Danica. One of the little ladies at the party.

Later I told cy that I didn't want to hear any more wining from him... he said " I want to wine out of....me!" he he he he he he

Lately Ter and Cy play catch in the kitchen with balls that they roll back and forth to each other. They both end up in fits of giggling and I can't help but smile.

Q read Cy his bedtime book tonight about a farm. He made the best animal noises, I love to see when they are binding. It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

Ter gets into everything.. when you say no and go toward him he giggles and tries to run away. Good thing he can't walk very well yet.

Cy helped me put the tree together yesterday. We have a fake tree and each level is color coded. I remember that last year cy helped but he was just learning his colors so he had some trouble. This year he brought me all the right colors and even put in a few himself! What a change. Also he was able to put the decorations on all by himself! He's getting so big and it all seems to be going so fast. He is out of diapers most of the time now too! Wow... my boys r growing up!

Ter has crying jags on the floor laying on his tummy. It' s mostly fake but all so cute. It's the end of the world. He also says mama really well now, almost all the time when he wants me. And Dada too! He also understands so much, he shakes his head no when he is finished eating and we are working on "more" and "all done" my 13 month old and my 38 months old. Its seems so crazy to say that. No more babies for us.. I am pretty sure but never positive cause you just never know... they also love jumping on the bed together, ter is trying so hard to learn to jump! Ter loves to stick out his tongue.. it's so long and as long as you keep yours out he will too!

I want to blog every day and record all the little milestones that I notice so I never forget. There are so many little ones every day that next year or even next week I will have forgotten. The days are long but the years are short. That's what my mother told me and boy was she right! I was saying how old my babies are getting and she said "yeah I know, my baby's 27" wow!

Yesterday can only be described as the worst day ever! Ter was up most of the night because he got a cold and I think he was a bit constipated too! This means that mama was up most of the night too. I ended up crawling into the playpen with him (that's where he sleeps) and we both finally fell asleep and it was almost 6am! Mama was soooo tired yesterday and I was what can only be described as bitchy.:{ I am so glad yesterday is behind me!

So yesterday i was wayyyy too tired to do a post. Mostly because I have been staying up until 2 am knitting and watching Fringe. If you have not seen this show, run, don't walk , to your favorite movie store and rent the first season RIGHT NOW! It's that good! I attached the sleeves to Q's sweater and I am now working on the yoke. This is my first sweater with a yoke so I don't really know what I am doing. Lucky for me the internet has ons of sites that help knitters with everything that they might need to know. I even found a site with a follow along tutorial showing how to attach the sleeves when knitting in the round. I can see the end of the sweater!

We went to play group yesterday and it was great. It's been a while and I really missed chatting to my ladies. Cy had a ball and so did ter. After lunch ter fell asleep in about 2 minutes cause he was so tired from playing.

The rest of the day was spent just relaxing and catching up on housework. And a few chocolate cookies too!

Today Cy and i started our Winter nature table. It looks really good already. I made a snowflake garland from old magazines. A craft i have been dying to try.

I made a yummy black bean lasagnea for dinner and now its time for bed! Ya weekend tomorrow!

A beautiful morning! After our circle time from Little Acorn Learning December Childcare Guide. We went out for a nature walk so we decided to see what the river does in the winter. Almost right away Cy spotted a white hare in the trees. I still can't believe that he spotted it! Then we saw the frozen river so Cy threw rocks to see which one would slide the farthest. Ter wished that he could walk in his snowsuit.

The dogs had a great time and Cynda even has started to run around like a normal dog. She jumps on me and gives me hugs... when she does that Cynda is taller then me. Good thing she is so gentle.

We spotted these on the way home and found they were from a Fisher! Not seen this side of the BC border in a really long time!

This was our fall nature table in all its glory. Our first experience with nature tables and Cy and I both had a ball finding treasures to add to it. Also creating art work to complement. Today we dismantled our fall table to use the parts to decorate our first Advent Wreath!

After we decorated our wreath we started on some "snow balls" for our winter nature table.

Cy made his snow balls himself! He did all the wrapping of the wool and I just cut it. He even pressed his finger to hold the knot well I tied off the balls! We found a great tutorial here

Rub My belly!
Last night Cy helped me to do this christmas craft. I was lucky to have all the supplies already! I found the idea in the Better Homes and Gardens Creative Collection Holiday Crafts magazine. The site I'm loving this magazine. It's full of cute, simple, colorful crafts. I can't wait to do another. I just have to choose which one to do first.... so many to choose!

Yesterday Fringe Season 2 came in to me at the library. With our library system I can order any book or dvd from anywhere in Alberta. This pretty much guarantees that I can find anything! I stayed up to 1:30am last night watching Fringe. I am loving the new season. It's kind of like X-Files with a new age feel. While I was up so late I worked on Q's Christmas sweater. I finished the arms and am now just stitching them up! I started the sweater in 2009 so it's been a long time coming!

This is our advent calendar that I found at the Christmas Store in Banff. It's a metal one and the little square is a magnet. You just move it over the number you are at. I love it... so simple and elegant looking!

Yesterday Ter said "night, night" as clear a day! Pretty much everyday now he is saying a new word or learning a new skill! It's crazy to think that in the second year of life your baby goes from a crawling, drooling infant to a walking and talking toddler! They really do grow up too fast! No to all you people out there that think we should have 3, this does not mean we are thinking about another. We are just fine thank you very much.

We finally made it to playgroup today for the first time in almost a month. After the sniffles that wouldn't end, and then the -30 weather, we finally made it. Oh I missed it... and so did the boys. They had so much fun playing with the other kids and I had so much fun drinking coffee and talking with the moms. If I can give one piece of advice to new moms its to find a mom group to join.

We had the awesome and delicious Balsamic Roasted Pork Loin for dinner. So simple and so delicious. Q says it tastes like something from a fancy restaurant.

I also did THIS workout today so my ass is killing me!

My Boys

The last sunday of November was a fun filled one. Daddy worked again to make up for the days he had off when it was so cold. Ter, Cy and I just relaxed all morning and i was able to finish my laundry. All my laundry! For the first time ever! Boy we really have too many clothes.

My plan is to go through all of our clothes for Cy and Ter and only keep the ones that I really like. They really do not need 12 pairs of winter pants each. It just makes for a ton of laundry and way too many clothes on the shelves, and falling off the shelves. I just need to convince the hubby to do the same with his clothes. He has about 3 trillion t- shirts! Way more clothes then I have. I am not perfect, but I went through my clothes last week and took out everything that I do not wear or is worn out, doesn't fit, ect. I wish to be VERY organized soon... Baby steps.. baby steps. Mabey Ter can teach me how!

Today we also went to the Canmore Christmas Artisans Market to visit my brother Dev who has Revolution Woodcraft. His pieces are designed and built by Devon. He is very talented and I am so proud of him! While we were there Ter walked 3 steps for Auntie Kim. We also hooked up with G.G to check out the craft sale with. G.G found some treats the Cy could eat. They were SO good. Little pretzels with white/peppermint chocolate on them and then each one had a red, green, or white jellybean. The best part is they are bite sized, just the perfect Christmas snack.

I am going to make these with Cy later in the Christmas season. At the sale I also found a few stocking stuffers for the boys. But I can't show you yet... its a surprise!

While I was reading Cy his bedtime story and singing his prayer Ter managed to take his diaper off himself! What a proud naked boy :)

Q came home and he bought a few chairs for the dinner table so now all of us can sit down at the same time... what a treat! After a long day at work for Q he is now enjoying some action movie and some chips... can a relaxed sunday night get any better? When I am done this post I am going to join him!

It's official folks Ter is WALKING!

The little man walking in the kitchen for the first time when I was holding his hand and then I let go. After a few moments he took a few steps for himself! I did not tell Q right away because I wanted him to see Ter walk for the first time. He just did in the living room to Q from the coffee table. It was the coolest thing to see, I love the first few tentative steps. Before we know it he will be walking and then running everywhere. ... you can see Cy's first steps HERE. Cy was 1 year and 3 weeks old when he walked.

Ter is 1 yr and 24 days old. They did it so close!

Cassie came over this afternoon and I watched all 3 of the kids for about 5 hrs. They were very good. They played nice and I was even able to finish my laundry, and do some dishes. It made me think that 3 kids may not be too much. But I think I am probably happy with the two boys that I already have. The best two boys in all the land.

We all went out to dinner with Auntie Kim (for her birthday), Uncle Devon, Auntie Kate, G.G, Auntie Sam, Uncle Mike, Cassie, and Marcus. It was great food. We went to a new Thai place that opened up in a coffee shop in the evening hours. I had the butter chicken which I have never had before and it was excellent! I cleaned my plate and almost licked it! I also had the Thai beer Singha. It is my favorite!

Later at home Ter walked for Q so I was able to write it here and let the world know!

Today the weather was warm! Only -7 yay! We were able to get out of the house for a walk with no tears or frozen kiddies. We even made it to the park but the snow was so deep that Cy couldn't walk very well to the slide. After one go on the slide we decided to just keep walking. Cy picked up some frozen snow and threw it at fences to make some snow blob art. I love getting some fresh air after being cooped up in the house for the past week and a half.

Q and I want to move to Rossland, BC where the coldest it gets is -13. Doesn't that sound balmy? Especially after the -28 that we usually have to put up with here. Also here we have the most windy town north of Crows Nest Pass. So every day that is windy is about 10 degrees colder then what the thermometer shows.

While Ter had his nap Cy and I did some stitching together. It was so mellow just hanging out with him and each of us working on our own projects. This is what we both worked on.

Ter was talking lots today and he said " wow" and "mom".

Today Cy, Ter and I tried to walk to play group but the weather was too harsh. It was actually warmer out then it has been but the wind was like a monsoon. It almost blew us over. Even now as I write this I can still hear the wind howling outside. It is spose to be warmer tomorrow so I cannot wait until we can go to the park again. It's been so long.

Cy helped me make a crisp today. He measured out all the ingredients and also helped me mix it. Then he scooped out the crisp while we moved it into the pan. It turned out to be the best crisp that I have ever tasted. The recipe can be found here Best Crisp Ever

Unfortunatly after Cy helped me with all the work he did not like the crisp and promtley spit out the bite he tasted. More for me!

I made Ter a cute little floor doll from the book "Creative Play for your Baby" I will have pics tomorrow when the doll is all finished. Hint: It has a cute knitted hat.

Cy and Ter saw santa on the weekend. Cy told him he wanted christmas cookie cutters so I guess that I have to get some for his stocking. That way he can believe about santa longer. The magic of christmas lasts only so long.

Ter also said "uh oh!" today. So adorable. He has such a cute voice and is constantly grinning.

When we were eating dinner cy said " I like this one (tomato) it has guts. I like to suck the guts out" Can't deny a 3 yr old his own food preferences.

Child of fairy , Child of earth is my new favorite book to read the boys. I cannot wait until the similar books I ordered from Amazon come in. I LOVE books, I only hope my boys will enjoy reading as much as I do.

Q was back at work today and I do miss him at home. Money is good but I wish there was something he could do from home.

Must go cuddle with hubby! Night Night

Daddy was home again cause framing in -25 degrees is just torture but the forecast looks better for tomorrow. The weather man says it should be up to -10 degrees. I hope so. I love having Q home with us during the week, he gets to experience regular day to day stuff with the boys. I am also happy that he will work tomorrow because we do need the money. Always need the money... but who dosen't? Eh?

We had another good day inside because of the cold. I helped Cy build a slide and stairs and a barn out of cardboard boxes. His little dinosaur played in the barn/ park for hours. At the end of the day we all say what our favorite part was and cy said it was the park we built. I love hearing that his favorite thing was a homemade pretend play activity.

I purchased the December 3 day program from www.littleacornlearning.com I can't wait for it to come so we can start exploring what it has to offer. We tried the October one and it was great! Each day has a theme and a craft and a story and circle time. We have started our days to have a bit more structure so these outlines will help us incorporate some more waldorf into our days.
